SALISBURY Playhouse’s 2017-18 pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk won an award for Best Pantomime at the Great British Pantomime Awards last night (Sunday).
The pantomime entertained more than 23,000 people last Christmas and was the highest grossing pantomime in Salisbury Playhouse’s history.
Jack and the Beanstalk was also listed as one of the top 10 pantomimes in the country by The Stage newspaper.
Wiltshire Creative executive director Sebastian Warrack said: "Pantomime is a hugely important part of the year at Salisbury Playhouse. We are hugely honoured to have received this award from the Great British Pantomime Awards 2018, which is testament to the huge amount of work that staff, volunteers, cast and the creative team put into making such a production. We’re also grateful to our audiences who continue to support us in such large numbers.”
The team behind Jack and the Beanstalk - writer Andrew Pollard and director Ryan McBryde, designer James Button and choreographer Nicky Griffiths – will be back at the Playhouse this Christmas with a new pantomime version of Beauty and the Beast.
