THE Journal’s Camera Club has gone from strength to strength, after gaining 344 members in its first month.

Snappers from across Salisbury and South Wiltshire have joined our group to share their shots with others, receive feedback and win prizes.

And the Journal is pleased to announce the club’s new sponsor will be London Camera Exchange.

Manager, Steve Taylor, said he is backing the group “to try and promote the love and passion of photography and get people involved in this wonderful hobby”.

“Nowadays we are a nation that sits behind our phones and tablets and this hobby gets us out and about, interacting with like-minded people, and gets the creative juices flowing, plus gives you a wonderful feeling knowing that you have created something worthwhile.”

Steve and the staff at the branch in Queen Street have picked the first winner to receive a £50 voucher to spend in store.

Nick Bull has scooped the first month’s prize with his image of crop spraying, and will receive his prize shortly.

Steve said: “After much deliberation we all agreed that the use of symmetry and the unusual viewpoint make this photo very interesting, and it just works for us.”

Josh Knowles’s shot of branches was runner-up due to its “nice warm tone and clever use of silhouette”, and Neil Petherick’s Old Sarum shot came third.
