ALDERHOLT Village Hall is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

To mark the occasion a special event is being held on Saturday, June 23, starting at 1pm.

Among the dignitaries attending will be Lord and Lady Salisbury and local MP Simon Hoare. Lord Salisbury was in attendance in 1968 when he opened the hall. His father laid the foundation stone.

Lady Salisbury will unveil a 2.5 metre long tapestry, depicting Alderholt scenes and life. This framed tapestry created by the local Knit and Natter group, will be a permanent feature in the hall.

Village hall chairman Norman Jones said: “Anniversaries like this come along only once in a lifetime and it’s important to fully recognise our village hall as the beating heart of the local community.”

There will be a barbecue, children’s entertainment and more at the free event plus. An evening disco is also being held.
