Award for St Edmund's

ST EDMUND’S School in Salisbury has taken third place in a national contest for specialist sports colleges.
Two pupils, sports captain Lydia Edwards and her deputy Amy Oke, went with deputy head Naomi Routledge to Chelsea Football Club’s home, Stamford Bridge, (on Tuesday October 6) to receive the award from Olympic heroes Sally Gunnell and James Cracknell.
Among the sporting stars at the event were Dame Kelly Holmes, 400m runner Iwan Thomas, rugby commentator Brian Moore, sprinter Marlon Devonish, diver Tom Daley and canoeist Anna Hemmings.
The Daily Telegraph and Aviva School Sport Matters Awards attracted hundreds of entries.
Telegraph sportswriter Gareth Davies said: “In a very tough category with brilliant entries, St Edmund’s stood out.”
Headteacher Jacqui Goodall said staff and pupils were “extremely proud” of the award, which was “a testament to the commitment and dedication that St Edmund’s has shown to school sport.”
She added: “It will inspire St Edmund’s to continue achieving great things, and prove that school sports really do matter.”
