Chess champion triumphs

THEY say men can’t multi-task, but Salisbury Chess Club champion Ieuan Ward proved that they can when he took on 10 fellow members simultaneously.
It’s a club tradition for the new champ to take on all comers each year. Mr Ward won all but one of his matches, and that one was tied.
Organiser Barry Diaper said the club, which meets upstairs at the Boathouse pub at 7.30pm on Thursdays, and on Mondays at 11am, is always keen to welcome new members. Anyone interested can contact Chris Kenward on 01980 622266.
