Fordingbridge and Ringwood residents are making strides to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Fordingbridge Rotarian Sue Jewell plans to run 10k in under 55 minutes in the 2012 Bupa London 10k in May, despite picking up her running shoes just 18 months ago.
The route is part of the course for the London Olympics.
Sue has only run short distances, but is determined to finish the one-lap course, which starts and finishes in St James Park, in a respectable time.
She said: “So far the training is going slowly but well. I have to say, though, that I had no idea that 10km felt so far – it takes no time at all when you’re driving it.”
Sue chose Macmillan Cancer Support for its work to improve the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support.

Liam Tepper, from Ringwood, and three friends will be cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End, also in aid of the cancer charity on April 1.
He is approaching businesses for sponsorship and is planning to raise money at a fundraising day at the Elm tree pub in Hightown.
