THIRTY firefighters were called to tackle a house fire in Netheravon last night.
Fire crews from Amesbury, Salisbury, Pewsey and Ludgershall were called at about 11.05pm to reports of a fire in the tiled roof of a two-storey detached cottage in Newtown, which is on the A345.
An aerial appliance from Swindon, an incident command vehicle from Devizes and a Hazardous Area Response Team from the Great Western Ambulance Service also attended.
Crews worked overnight to extinguish the fire and the A345 was closed until the area was made safe at about 7am this morning.
The fire is believed to have started in the property’s chimney.
