Winter lecture series at cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral is running a winter lecture series from October to February.

The series will focus on four topics which set the scene and context of life in the cathedral today. On Wednesday, October 17 Professor Claire Cross discusses the impact of the Reformation and Puritanism on life in Salisbury.

On November 14 Professor David Catchpole and Canon Tom Clammer describe the theology of Christmas and the way this great feast is celebrated in Salisbury Cathedral and elsewhere.

Professor John Harper explains the liturgy used in the cathedral on January 23.

And on Wednesday, February 27 the Bishop of Sherborne, the Rt Revd Graham Kings, explores John Jewel’s role as Bishop of Salisbury and as a leader in defining the new post-Reformation Anglicanism.

The lectures, in the North Transept, begin at 11.00am, except for the lecture on November 14, which will be at 10.30am. Tickets are £5 per lecture and are available online from salisburycathedral.org.uk .
