Review launched after death of boys
5:42pm Tuesday 4th September 2012 in Headlines By Hannah White
AN independent review is to be held into the case of two boys found dead in a flat in Tidworth with their father at the weekend.
The body of Graham Gordon Anderson, 36, was found in the flat at Auchinleck House in Sidbury Heights at 1.20pm on Sunday, after the landlady of the rented property went in to show prospective new tenants around.
The bodies of the boys, Jack, 11, and three-year-old Bryn were found in another room. Police are treating the deaths of the two boys as suspicious and are not looking for anyone else in connection with their inquiries.
The boys had been living with their father since May when he was granted a residence order by the family court. Hampshire Children’s Services had supported the family including a short period in foster care for the children at the family’s request but the boys had never been the subject of child protection plans.
Steve Crocker, deputy director of children’s services at Hampshire County Council, said: “As in all tragic cases the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Board will conduct a full independent review of the case to ascertain whether there are lessons for all agencies which have supported the family. At this stage we can see no evidence that might have predicted or helped avoid this dreadful incident but we will do all in our powers to review and learn any lessons. In the first instance our attention will be focussed on offering support to those involved."
Police are appealing for information to piece together the movements of Mr Anderson and the two boys prior to the discovery of the bodies. Anyone who has information that may assist is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101 and ask for the incident room, or if they wish to remain anonymous they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
