Man jailed for Amesbury alley attack

A MAN who attacked a soldier in an alleyway and left him unconscious on the ground has been jailed for two and a half years.

Luke Anthony Hoole, 22, of Highfield Road, Amesbury punched 49-year-old Kenneth Teasdale in an alleyway between Solstice Rise and Earls Court Road, Amesbury in February, leaving him with extensive skull fractures and bleeding in his brain.

Mr Teasdale, a WO2 with 43 Wessex Brigade, was walking home after watching a football match with friends at Boscombe Down Recreation Club when the incident happened.

He spent three and a half weeks in Southampton General Hospital and is still receiving treatment for his injuries.

Throughout his trial in August, Hoole, of Highfield Road, Amesbury, insisted he acted in self-defence, but a jury found him guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court yesterday.
