Market set to expand

AMESBURY market is set to expand.

Wiltshire Council wants to see more stalls and has asked Amesbury Town Council to consider the expansion of the market to the former Co-op car park in the town.

The weekly Wednesday market, which almost ceased to exist two years ago, has grown since moving to Salisbury Street and the council wants more room for stalls.

Cllr John Noeken said: “It is good news the market wants to expand. However, we need to look at encouraging stalls that are not in direct competition with retailers already in the town.”

The council also questioned how long the Co-op car park would be available if the sale of the building goes ahead.
