Family history help

HAMPSHIRE residents are being invited to delve deeper into their family history using the county council’s vast collection of archives and local studies.

Hampshire Record Office in Winchester offers a huge variety of sources to explore the history of those who lived in the county.

It holds eight miles of documents including old maps, parchment rolls, photos, street directories and newspapers spanning nearly 1,000 years.

This Tuesday from 6pm until 8pm, the record office will be holding a Family History for Beginners workshop.

To book a place call 01962 846154 or visit hants.gov.uk/archives .

Sessions are also planned for October 16 November 8.
