New vicar receives a warm parish welcome

A CONGREGATION flocked to the Trinity Church in Ringwood to welcome its new vicar.

Rev Mike Shrubsole has been installed as the new vicar of the Trinity United Church, a union of the former Methodist Church and the United Reform Church in the town.

He will also serve in Crowe Hill, Horton Heath and eventually at the United Reform Church in Fordingbridge .

Rev Shrubsole, a United Reform minister, will replace Methodist minister Rev David Hookins.

Rev Shrubsole said: “We are looking forward to settling in Ringwood and getting to know the church the community and the locality.

“Several years ago we lived and worked on the east side of the New Forest and it will be exciting to settle into a new situation on the Avon’s western border of the Forest.

“Everyone has been very kind in making us welcome and we are full of anticipation for good things ahead.”

Rev Shrubsole has left his previous ministry in north Essex, at Coggeshall and Great Notley to take the post.

He has a science and theology background, and is interested in environmental issues.

Rev Shrubsole is married to Louise and they have two grown-up children.
