Find out more about being a councillor
12:41pm Tuesday 9th October 2012 in Headlines By Journal Reporter
ANYONE considering becoming a local councillor and standing in next year’s local elections on May 2, can find out more at a series of roadshows taking place in Local Democracy Week, which runs from October 15 to 19.
There will be evening sessions for anyone who has ever thought about a role in local politics and would like to influence what happens in their community. In Salisbury a roadshow is taking place in the City Hall on Tuesday, October 16 at 7pm.
Wiltshire Council leader Jane Scott said: “This is an exciting opportunity for people to become more involved in local democracy by standing for election and providing leadership in their local community. “It would be great to see a diverse cross section of our county represented at the next May’s elections, and these roadshows will give people a better insight to what being a councillor is all about.”
