Mere card scheme supports community
THE Co-op store in Mere is offering local organisations and charities the opportunity to bid for up to £10,000 as part of a new scheme.
The Community Support Card Scheme (CSC) is being run in selected Southern Co-operative stores and enables communities to raise funds by presenting a green CSC card when they make a purchase.
Every time the green card is swiped, money is contributed to the group’s funds at no cost to them.
The more customers use the card, the more quickly funds are raised.
Retail business manager Janet Avery said: “I want to encourage as many local organisations to apply for this funding; it’s a great way for The Southern Co-operative to work closely with the community and a pleasure for us to help fund valuable local causes.”
