Speeding problems in Amesbury
DRIVERS in Amesbury are being urged to slow down to avoid putting lives of pedestrians in danger.
Insp Martyn Sweett, giving his report at this month's meeting of the town council, said police are concerned about cars speeding in the Archers Gate area and urged residents to help identify the culprits.
He said: "It is an issue and certainly one that continues to be raised. What we want to do is target those specific offenders, as it's only a minority committing these offences.
"The earlier we can identify the individuals who may participate the better, so we can speak with them and address them."
Cllr John Noeken agreed there is a problem and said there will be a review by Wiltshire County Council to try to come up with more ways to tackle the issue.
He added: "If they are seen speeding then I would hope residents and councillors would report the number plates of these vehicles to the police."
