It's time to act against a village 'yob' culture
EARLY on a Sunday morning, the day before Christmas Eve, I was taking my children to London for the day.
It saddened me to see the total mess and destruction which was left from another night of the "yobs" who are left to roam the streets of Durrington.
Over the last year I, like everyone else in the village, have seen the total lack of respect these people have.
The effort which has gone into making Durrington a pleasant village has been
deliberately destroyed for "a bit of a laugh". Plant pots have had their contents ripped out and thrown across the road, newly-planted trees have been torn apart and spray paint daubed everywhere.
People are not able to walk into the local shop as they are threatened by the gangs hanging around outside. This was capped off by
something being thrown through the back
window of a Durrington resident's car. All for "a bit of a laugh?"
What I have come to hear through the grapevine is that even though there is a police station in Amesbury, there are only two
policemen on the beat covering the whole area! It's no wander these yobs can wander around in their large groups, intimidating residents,
vandalising properties and causing criminal damage. They know by the time the police turn up, they will be long gone.
What is going to be done about it? The same as always no doubt; Nothing! What do we pay our Council Tax for? The only thing I see we are getting is our rubbish collected regularly (there's another topic rant on about!) Something needs to be done NOW. Any suggestions?

I agree entirely with your correspondent's comments and can also tell her/him where the police portion of our council tax goes. It will be used to arrest we like souls when our patience finally runs out and we retaliate against this low life.
