A FIREMAN in Fordingbridge has been putting the fun into fundraising for the last 12 years.
Fordingbridge Fire Station's crew manager Pete White launched the 10K Road Run 12 years ago and on Sunday the event was held again.
Some 250 people from children to firemen and from beginners to competitive runners pounded their way across bluebell woods, forests and sloping hillsides as they finished the 10K race.
And this year it was M King who came in first place in 33 minutes. In first place in the women's section S Macgregor proved the fastest in her time of 41 minutes and it was Ringwood fireman Mark Christopher who beat the fire crews with the winning time 40 minutes.
It wasn't just Pete's love of running that prompted him to launch the race but his commitment for raising vital funds for the Fire service charities.
"The race brings Fordingbridge Fire Station to the forefront of the community for the day," he said.
"We had fantastic audience participation with crowds cheering the runners on. The race was a great success.
"It is friendly rather than competitive so it's a lot of fun for everyone. So there is no pressure."
Last year the race raised around £2,000. Pete is expecting a similar amount raised this year.
