Bransgore horse owner concerned over safety of horses
A HORSE owner in Bransgore has been left mystified after her Arab stallion was found
distressed in a neighbouring field after someone cut the barbed wire fence.
Karen Dewey, owner of three-year-old Calimeer, claims that someone either wanted to steal him, have him "serve" another mare or wanted to leave him wandering dangerously close to the
road.
Now Karen is worried for the safety of her two mares and Calimeer and has taken them out
of the field.
"Someone deliberately tried to get into the field and Calimeer was very upset by the incident.
"He didn't eat for four days and that is very unusual. I have had him since he was four months old and he is very respectful of fencing
and generally laid back, so he must have been herded out of the field.
"Why else would he leave a field with two mares in it"?
Karen told The Forest Journal: "I think it is important that people are warned about this kind of activity. Luckily all he wanted to do was get back to his mares so he didn't venture out onto the road."
Karen added that there were skid marks in one corner of the field where an incident had taken
place.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said that it was important that any incident was reported and that
police officers took any incidents involving animals very seriously.
