Dorset Justice awards launched
THE Dorset Criminal Justice Board has launched the Dorset Justice Awards 2008.
These awards recognise the exceptional work that is carried out by the dedicated people working and volunteering within Dorset's criminal justice system.
Any member of staff working for a criminal justice agency or volunteer working with victims, witnesses, defendants or offenders can be nominated for an award.
Award categories will recognise outstanding work carried out in areas including caring for victims and witnesses, working with offenders, engaging local communities and for delivering an outstanding contribution to a criminal justice agency.
John Wiseman, newly appointed Chair of the Dorset Criminal Justice Board, said: "The Dorset Justice Awards are a great opportunity to recognise people working and volunteering within our criminal justice system.
"The award winners will be staff and volunteers who have gone the extra mile in ensuring efficient and effective justice is delivered in Dorset."
"Everyday across Dorset, our dedicated staff and volunteers are committed to delivering a service that makes a real difference to people's lives, helping to make our communities safer and protecting the public. This work deserves to be acknowledged and appreciated."
The nomination period for the Dorset Justice Awards is now open and closes on Monday 28th July 2008.
All successful nominees will be invited to receive their awards in October at a special ceremony at the Dorford Centre in Dorchester.
This is the fourth year that the Dorset Criminal Justice Board has held its annual Justice Awards event. Last year's event saw 20 teams and individuals recognised for their exceptional work.
If members of the public want to nominate someone working or volunteering within Dorset's criminal justice system that they feel has delivered an exceptional service then they should email the Dorset Criminal Justice Board Support Team to request a nomination form at lcjb@dorset.pnn.police.uk or visit the Board's website at www.cjsonline.gov.uk/dorset.
