A SERIES of concerts aimed at promoting local talent in the Forest has enjoyed another successful gig.

Forest LIVE hosted national folk legend Martin Carthy alongside local musician Owen Hackett at Fordingbridge Town Hall.

Carthy performed a combination of traditional folk songs and stories.

Hackett’s limited edition EP was auctioned on the night by Tim Dench, co-founder of forest LIVE, to raise funds for his next recording project.

The concert raised £118 for locally based charity the Trust for Overseas Aid and Development (toadcharity.com) through the sale of hot food and snacks.

Forest LIVE’s autumn concert series continues on Sunday, November 11 with a performance by local band The Frenzied & the Diligent. Audience members are encouraged to bring along their home made instruments to win a prize. Tickets cost £5 from forestlive.co.uk or 07980 374971 or boxoffice@azanialtd.com.

The last concert in the series will be on Sunday, December 9, where the singer and multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer (Show of Hands, Albion Band) will entertain at the town hall.
