MOORS Valley Country Park is now on a countdown to Christmas.

Searching for golden pine cones and decorating a giant advent calendar are just two of the activities on offer this year.

The activities start on Sunday, November 25, when all the family can decorate a giant advent calendar from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

There is also the opportunity to make cards in time for Christmas. There is no need to book and cards cost £1 each. For more information and prices contact the Forestry Commission 02380 283141.

There’s a mini Christmas adventure in the Hunt for the Golden Pine Cone on December 8 and 9.

The story begins with a journey into the heart of the Forest, where children discover some of Santa’s secrets and help him search for the magic golden pine cones.

They can also take home their very own baby Christmas tree and wood cookie keepsake.

The pine cone hunts begin at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm and places must be booked by calling 02380 286840.

Father Christmas can also be visited in his grotto after a ride on the Santa Special steam train at Moors Valley on December 9 and 16.

Children and adults will receive a special gift as well as some festive refreshments.

Book your ride for 11am, noon, 2pm and 3pm on either day at a cost of £12 per person.

There will also be two Festive Fun Days w from 11.30am to 4pm on December 9 and 16 with a great range of activities for all the family.
