FORDINGBRIDGE Choral Society has appointed Nigel Edwards as its conductor from January.
Mr Edwards is a professional musician who has worked with other choirs, and is a proficient keyboard player, specifically piano, organ and harpsichord.
He was a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral, a music scholar at Canford School, and studied at The Royal College of Music. For many years he was an orchestral violinist with the BBC, and has played with the LSO, Philharmonia, BSO and others.
The society would welcome more singers, especially for the soprano and bass sections. Rehearsals are held on term-time Wednesday evenings in the United Reformed Church in Fordingbridge at 7 30pm. For more information contact the secretary on 01425 654372.
The society’s Christmas Concert is on Saturday, December 8 entitled Mostly Messiah and Advent Carols.
Tickets include mulled wine and a mince pie. They are £8 in advance, from Bassets Estate Agents at 31 High Street, and from the FCS Secretary on 01425 654372 or £10 on the door.
