IT was standing room only at Godshill Village Hall on Friday when hundreds of residents clamoured to see the village showstoppers at the fifth Godshill Has Talent event.

The evening boasted a variety of acts, including musicians, singers and dancers with some illustrated poetry thrown in.

Lucy Austin won the under 12 category, Lizzie Proctor played the piano and sang her way to joint first place with singer and dancer Richard Wormsley in the 12 to 18 age group, and musical trio, Ellen Fellows, Nathan Wall and Derek Ayling came first in the adult category.

The event was organised by Claire and Mike O’Brien of the Village Hall Committee, and raised £450 for hall funds.

Treasurer Alison Ayling said: “The village hall was standing room only with about 150 people coming to watch the show. The standard is increasing year on year, with a huge range of acts from a wide mix of age groups performing.

“The event shows true community spirit and has become one of the highlights of the year.”

One hundred and fifty is a good turn out, but isn't 'hundreds'.
