TWO year groups at Verwood First School worked together to earn a fantastic pyjama day and cookery session.
The school’s gem award system is being hailed a great success, enabling whole classes to work together to earn treats they can all enjoy.
On Friday, 120 children in Reception and Year 1 joined up to make rice crispie cakes and read stories in their jim-jams.
The older children in Beech Base read their favourite tales to the Oak Base children, and they also got to meet geologist Anthony Cosgrove, who came in to talk to them at the end of their project on volcanoes.
Year 1 teaching assistant Pam Smith said: “The rewards scheme is really working, and it seems that every half-term the jars which they fill with gems for displaying good behaviour and resourcefulness are full, and they get to choose something fun to do.”
