A GROUP of travellers have moved onto land in Fordingbridge.
Four caravans and two cars have moved onto the agricultural land at Marl Lane, behind Forres Sandle Manor School.
School bursar Roger Dutton said: “As far as we understand the field has been brought by a traveller family.
“We would only start to get a little more enthusiastic if two caravans become 62.”
However, the ownership of the land has not been confirmed and New Forest District Council is investigating.
A spokesman said: “We are aware that travellers are present on land at Marl Lane, Fordingbridge. We were notified last week and our enforcement officers visited the site on Wednesday.
“The situation is being closely monitored. No planning applications have been submitted and the land is in agricultural use.
“We are checking with the Land Registry regarding ownership.”
