Drive to encourage responsible dog walkers
HOTLINE cards and window stickers designed to encourage responsible dog walking in the New Forest have been unveiled.
The cards and stickers have been produced by New Forest Park Authority in collaboration with New Forest Dogs Forum and are designed to keep the forest clean of mess and provide a safe environment for walkers and wildlife.
They are hoping that the code will have the same effect as the “I go slow for ponies” stickers that are currently displayed by New Forest residents.
The code includes picking after your dog and taking the bagged waste home or using a litter or dog bin.
It also states that dogs should be under control and should not be allowed to chase livestock, deer or other wildlife.
The stickers and hotline cards were highlighted at the recent New Forest Show where they were widely distributed.
Both the window stickers and the cards are available at local information points, visitor centres, district council offices and vets.
Alternatively, they are available to order at email@example.com.
