Enthusiasts go loco over model railways
A MODEL railway show held every two years in Woodgreen attracted about 300 people fascinated with mini locos over two days.
Enthusiast Reg Hunt held the Woodgreen Model Railway and Steam Show at the village hall, where 12 demonstrators turned out with their layouts and were joined by several steam engine owners with their engines.
Charlie Warne, who demonstrated his N gauge railway layout and his Burrell steam engine at the show, said: “We enjoy doing it. This year it was to raise funds for Help for Heroes and Hyde Band and the village hall.
“We raised about £700, which is great.
“We seem to have a lot of interest in both the miniature rail layouts and the steam engines and there were lots of young people this year, which is great because the hobby would die out otherwise.”
