Daredevils in 15,000ft jump for festive show
FOUR friends from Fordingbridge fell 15,000ft when they skydived to raise funds for Hyde Church and Hyde School’s Christmas production.
Daredevils Richard Austin, Jim Cowdery, Andrew Smith and Tiffany Wilson jumped from the maximum height to experience 60 seconds freefall on Saturday from Sarum Airfield near Salisbury. And they raised £3,000 in the hair-raising fall.
Two of the jumpers, Mr Cowdery and Mr Smith, took part in the challenge to raise funds for the Hyde Church campaign to raise £125,000 for new rooms.
Members of the church launched the project a year ago to replace the rooms, which are falling into a state of disrepair.
While Mr Austin and Mrs Wilson raised money for Hyde C of E School's Christmas production, a much-loved event that is created by the pupils.
Mrs Wilson stepped in for her husband Stephen at the last minute, after he broke a rib playing squash.
She said: “I think I loved the jump more than the others and I want to do it again.”
