Scheme helps kids get active
CUSTOMERS of Sainsbury’s Ringwood have helped to donate £5,072 worth of Active Kids equipment and experiences since the scheme launched in 2005.
Local schools and groups, including Poulner junior and infant schools and Ringwood Infant School, are celebrating after receiving this year’s Active Kids equipment.
Customers collected vouchers between January 30 and May 22, earning one voucher for every £10 spent.
In total 53 schools, groups and clubs local to Sainsbury’s Ringwood are registered to the scheme.
Poulner Junior School was the top collecting organisation local to Sainsbury’s Ringwood this year, collecting 26,680 vouchers – meaning families connected with the school must have spent more than £268,000 in store in less than four months.
Schools, groups and clubs, including Ringwood CE Infant School, which collected 16,025 vouchers, have recently received their order of this year’s equipment.
Store manager Kevin Strowger said: “The scheme really has grown over the last nine years and our customers have played a massive part in ensuring we continue to encourage all children, regardless of ability, to lead healthier, more active lifestyles.”
