Murray opens new car park
THE cars weren’t moving quite as quickly as he’s used to, but it was still a thrilling circuit for patients in Fordingbridge as Murray Walker officially opened the surgery’s new car park.
The former Formula One commentator snipped the ribbon after friends of the practice raised £46,000 to alleviate chronic parking problems.
Mr Walker, who is patron of the Friends of Fordingbridge Surgery, joined trustees and surgery staff to open the long-awaited car park.
Friends chairman Jackie Lydford said: “The patients requested the improvements and most generously donated the funds needed to bring them about.
“This is a real and practical example of the community supporting itself and we are delighted to be a part of it.
“We are all so pleased that this project is now completed and such a success.
“Our thanks go to many of those involved but particularly to the surgery staff headed by practice manager Michelle Raymond, for keeping patients clearly informed during the work.
“Earlcoate, the contractors, have done an efficient and super job, completing on time, and the architect, Philip Proctor, carefully planned the space brilliantly.
“We believe this will greatly facilitate access to the surgery. We just need to get used to the one-way system.”
