A FORDINGBRIDGE teenager was getting saucy in Ringwood’s Furlong Shopping Centre in Ringwood on Saturday as she bathed in baked beans for a shivering four-and-a-half hours.
Burgate pupil Tazmin Hollands, 14, took the plunge to raise money for a trip to Bengmealea near Siem Reap in August 2015 for four weeks, to help build classrooms, support a reforestation project and teach food and hygiene and English.
Tazmin said: “I would like to thank everyone who supported me and sponsored me for my baked bean bath. I managed to raise £237 on the day and, with all the other sponsors, the total will be around £800, so that is brilliant.
“It was freezing and my feet went numb and I felt quite sick but I refused to get out until 2pm.
“I wanted to try for longer but I was just too cold and felt lousy. I am not sure if I ever want to eat a baked bean again.”
Sainsbury’s, Lidl, Tesco, the Co-op and McDonald’s all donated the cans of baked beans.
