Honour for green company
A VERWOOD company has been recognised at the 2013 Regen SW Green Energy Awards.
New Earth Solutions Group, a waste treatment and renewable energy specialist based on the Ebblake Industrial Estate, won the gong for its 13 megawatt advanced thermal energy recovery facility (ERF) in Avonmouth, near Bristol. Regen is a not-for-profit membership organisation for companies dealing with renewable energy, and its awards scheme is in its tenth year.
The Bristol facility is powered by refuse-derived fuel (RDF) manufactured at a neighbouring waste treatment facility.
RDF is produced from residual household waste which cannot be recycled.
New Earth’s innovative combined waste and energy solution, the first of its kind in the UK, diverts more than 90 per cent of local waste away from landfill, contributes to the UK and EU’s renewable energy targets, and delivers significant carbon benefits.
Robert Asquith, of New Earth, said: “We are delighted and proud to receive this award.”
