VERWOOD Children’s Centre has launched a new play session for local children with additional needs.

The new weekly group session at the centre will be run by Action for Children in partnership with Dorset County Council.

Every Friday from 10am until 11.30am, the group will provide a safe and fun environment for children with physical, sensory, communication, behavioural or learning disabilities to play while their parents meet other families with similar needs.

Parents will also be given the opportunity to learn helpful skills, such as relaxing massage techniques to help improve behaviour and find other useful services in the community.

A feedback forum will allow families to shape the services on offer at the centre.

Liz Rowe, children’s services manager at Action for Children, said: “We’re very excited to be able to start the new year with this new group and we hope to see lots of new faces at its launch event.”

Verwood Children’s Centre is open Monday to Thursday from 8.30am until 4.30pm and on Friday from 8.30am until 4pm.
