ANTIQUES and artifacts went under the hammer at Moyles Court School on Saturday for the final push of a year-long campaign to raise money for the Hyde Church Centre project.

More than £2,000 was raised, smashing the £125,000 total in 365 days.

Fundraising committee member Elaine Micklewright said: “It has been quite a year and we are there. All things being equal we will hopefully commence work on the new centre this year.

“The event went very well and there were a few items left over, which will be sold at other auctions and eBay.

“We are now looking forward to the new centre being built.”

The centre will provide a safer and better space than the current rooms behind the church.

It will be used by the pre-school every day and also by the Sunday school, youth group, messy church sessions, Mothers’ Union, Royal British Legion Women’s Section and clubs.

There will be two levels that can be used separately, and underfloor heating.
