THE Fairtrade town of Ringwood is holding an event this Saturday to help ‘banish the unfair banana’.
The town’s Fairtrade steering group is holding the event from 10am until 2.30pm outside the Meeting House to mark Fairtrade fortnight 2014, which runs until Sunday.
People can go along and try making a banana milkshake using pedal power, and there will be a treasure hunt for children, a raffle of Fairtrade hampers, information about Fairtrade and stalls by the churches and the shop Timber.
There will also be a guest from the Windward Islands.
Last summer Ringwood successfully renewed its Fairtrade status as a town.
Now the group is carrying on its work in encouraging shops to stock Fairtrade products, encouraging cafes and business to use Fairtrade coffee, tea and sugar and urging people to choose Fairtrade when shopping.
Anybody interested in joining the steering group can contact Vikki Jordan on 07428 704533
