RESIDENTS of Fordingbridge and the surrounding areas will be transported back to the days of the Great War on March 26.

The Friends of Fordingbridge Museum are hosting an evening with songs of the era, war poetry and a play by Forest Forge entitled Call Up.

Julian Hewitt from the museum said: “The play looks at how families coped with and adapted to the loss of the menfolk by looking at locally researched, personal stories that have not been recorded until now.”

The evening has been sponsored by Bassets Estate Agents and both Ringwood Brewery and the Co-Op are providing beer and wine.

Mr Hewitt added: “We are also delighted that local celebrity Rosemary Squires has pledged her support.”

The play will be performed at 7.30pm in the Victoria Rooms. Tickets are £7 from Fordingbridge Bookshop, or on 01425 653725.
