THE annual Fordingbridge Fire Station 10k is now hosting two children’s races alongside the main event.

One event will be for five to ten-year-olds, starting at 10am on April 27, and going one lap up Marl Lane and around the Forres Sandle Manor grounds – a distance of two miles.

The second event, for 11-16-year-olds, will start at 11.10am and will be three miles long.

There is no charge to enter but completed entry forms must be received by April 23 and there will be no opportunity to enter on the day.

Entry forms are available through Burgate School, Fordingbridge infant and junior schools and Forres Sandle Manor. They are also available by emailing pete.white@hantsfire.gov.uk.

The 17th 10k Road Race will start at 11am. The event is a one-lap run through pretty Hampshire countryside along quiet, country roads.

The race starts on Normandy Way opposite the fire station at 11am and finishes at the fire station.

There will be trophies for the first three men and women, first over-50 to finish and first firefighter, plus medals for all who finish the course.

Fees are £9 for club runners or £9.50 for anyone else, or £10 on the day.

Changing facilities will be provided, and refreshments will be available at the finish line.
