NATURAL England is investigating after several tonnes of what looks like builder’s waste was apparently dumped on a Site of Special Scientific Interest near Fordingbridge.
A concerned resident contacted the district council, Verderers, the Forestry Commission and the National Trust after being horrified that grasses were being crushed and smothered at Huckles Brook, Furze Hill.
The matter is in the hands of Natural England.
The householder, who does not wish to be named, said the land had always been common land that had been pony grazed.
He also said the grass formed ancient lawns.
