A MAN who was found lying in a road near Hurn last month with severe head injuries has died.
The 48-year-old Romanian man, of no fixed abode, was taken to the neurological department at Southampton General Hospital after he was found in Dudmoor Farm Road, near the junction with Fairmile Road, at about noon on March 31.
He died in hospital on April 8, after a ten-day fight for life.
On Monday, Dorset Police liaised with the Romanian Consulate to identify the man, and the consulate has informed his next of kin of his death.
A spokesman for the police said: “Dorset Police are investigating the circumstances of this death.
“We believe he either jumped or fell from a moving, silver Toyota Hilux pickup.
“Officers have spoken to the driver and inquiries are continuing.
“We are appealing for witnesses, anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the area prior to the incident.”
The circumstances of the man’s death are unclear.
Anyone who may have seen anything in the area of Dudmoor Farm Road or Marsh Lane is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 31:145 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
