A BOOKLET produced by Hampshire County Council to help people avoid being the victims of scams and rogue traders has been shortlisted for the National Learning Disability awards.
The Making Money Matter booklet is packed with helpful information to help stop adults with learning disabilities becoming victims of scams and unscrupulous doorstep callers and helps people understand their rights as consumers.
The pack has been shortlisted as a potential winner in the ‘Accessibility’ category which celebrates individuals or organisations who have worked to make sure people get clear information.
The council’s executive member for adult social care and public health Liz Fairhurst said: “In Hampshire there are an estimated 14,000 adults with learning disabilities and we want to enable as many as possible, to live as independently as possible. “The Making Money Matter booklet helps us to achieve this by providing information in an easy to access format that can arm vulnerable people with the information they need to prevent them from falling victim to scams and rogue traders who will try to take advantage.”
The council will find out if its booklet has won this month.
