VERWOOD Town Council is to test the structural safety of gravestones and memorials after injuries and even deaths in other areas of the country, caused by falling stones.
An independent consultant is being engaged to check the graveyards in the town and in West Moors. Any found to be unsafe will be braced and families will be contacted if possible so they can arrange for the stone to be repaired.
The work starts on June 16.
