Wheelchair basketball club planned for Verwood

A FORMER international wheelchair basketball player is raising funds to buy six sports wheelchairs to run weekly sessions in Verwood.

Joanna Birley, who broke her back in a fall from her horse, wants to run the sessions for able-bodied and disabled people at the recreation ground and shooting skills at Verwood Sports Hall.

She said: “If anyone is interested in joining me on the rec once I have the chairs they can email me at hobbyhorse@dsl.pipex.com. Likewise, any local companies which would like to help towards the purchase of these specialist chairs, please email me.”
