A TINY school fielded a great team at the first New Forest Schools Key Stage 1 Cross Country Running Championships.

Six young runners from Hale School's Running Club joined more than 250 athletes at the inaugural contest at Netley Marsh, and came away with a clutch of medals for their efforts.

The school's athletics coach Rachel Jones said: “We are so proud of the team - winning gold, silver and bronze medals in both the individual and team competitions is amazing.

“Many thanks to the organisers – this has been a great event.”
