A ROYAL British Legion (RBL) stalwart has been honoured for his voluntary work.
Outgoing Ringwood mayor Steve Rippon-Swaine, presented a certificate of merit to Sid Slatter at the Annual Town Assembly.
The citation read: “This award is made in recognition of your outstanding contribution to the community of Ringwood through voluntary work with the Royal British Legion over many years.”
Mr Slatter said he was delighted to receive the honour. He joined the RBL in 1980 and was chairman for 15 years.
He told the meeting about some of the welfare work of the RBL and said that he felt the award was as much for the Ringwood branch of the RBL as for himself. He also paid tribute to his wife Betty for her support and help.
