A PLANNING row involving a very large Fordingbridge garden shed has gone to appeal.

Clive Marshallsay is challenging a decision taken by New Forest District Council, which rejected his retrospective application for an outbuilding at his home in Whitsbury Road.

Neighbours on both sides have objected to the shed, which they say is extremely large - 2.56 metres high, 9.5 metres long and 5.16 metres wide - and which they allege is being used for a carpeting business.

The planning officer’s report on the application said no one else in the row of bungalows had anything like it in the front of their homes and thus it was out of keeping with the area.

A government-appointed planning inspector will decide if the appeal should be upheld.
