WOODGREEN Cricket Club and Hyde Band are holding an open air concert this Friday, June 20 to pay tribute to a man who gave years of service to both.

The concert, at 7.45pm at the cricket ground on Woodgreen Common, will be dedicated to the memory of local band and cricket club stalwart Jim Hart.

The two organisations are hoping that the many people who knew Mr Hart will attend to show their appreciation of all he did for them.

Mr Hart was a player, captain, umpire and life member of the cricket club, and a well-known figure in village activities.

‘Jimmer’ had also been a playing member of Hyde Band since 1965, initially on euphonium, and then on bass, and was a director and life member of the band.

Tickets for the concert are £5 (children free), with the grounds open for picnics from 6.45pm.

If rained off, the event will instead be held on Friday, June 27.
