FAMILIES dealing with autism in Dorset can now access respite care for £7 an hour after a grant boost.
Community Wessex has been awarded funds to offer short breaks to families in Dorset who need respite.
The funds have meant they are able to launch the Buddy Scheme and subsidise short breaks.
Jo Pattison, Area Manager for Community Wessex said: “We are encouraging families to get in touch with us so we can assess their needs.”
Community Wessex provides a range of social care services to people with autism and other developmental disorders, learning disability and associated mental health problems. Services include short break services and tailor made support packages.
The scheme will take children out on short breaks to provide family members with respite and also give the child an opportunity to have a fun filled support session with a choice of activities.
If you want to access the scheme contact Community Wessex on 01202 853000 so your needs can be assessed.
