AN amazing day out for all ages is promised this Saturday at the sixth Fordingbridge Festival.

There's entertainment throughout the day, masses of children's activities and a flower show, plus classic cars, vintage tractors and mopeds, and to top it off, a duck race with great prizes.

From 10.30am at the recreation ground, Fordingbridge Rotary Club has organised a real treat, for an entry fee of £5 for adults, £4 for seniors and children under 16 go free.

There will be traditional crafts, charity and commercial stalls, bands and lots of 'have a go' events such as bowling and archery.

Music will include the Pantasy Caribbean Steel Band, which will also be running a children's workshop, Downton Band and Ringwood Community Choir.

Fordingbridge and District Horticultural Society will once again stage its annual show and there will be a four-hour arena display featuring obedience dogs, Liberty Flying Display, and lots more. For children there will be bouncy castles, face painting, Mr Merlin and Okey Dokey the Dragon, Punch and Judy and Trigger the Train will take them around the rec.

There will be more than 60 classic cars, including groups from the Four Counties and Can-Am clubs, and 1st Fordingbridge Scouts are hosting fun games such as Bowling for the Pig, Flipping Frogs and Coconut Shots.

You can also sit in the cockpit of an air ambulance helicopter or a fire engine, and see prize-winning Mouland Clydesdale horses.

Just before the close of the festival, at 4pm, there will be a duck race with a massive £500 first prize.

Duck race tickets are available now at £2 per duck for the public race, and £25 for the business race. There will be 200 left to buy on the day but you'll have to be quick as they sell like hot cakes.
