POLICE are appealing for anyone who witnessed an attack on a toddler at Paulton’s Park on Sunday.
The assault happened between 2pm and 2.20pm, and officers have been told that a young girl, aged about three or four, was assaulted by a man who was known to her.
Police would like to hear from anyone who was walking along a footpath from the main entrance to car park “D” and saw what happened.
The man is described as white with a large build, six feet tall with dark hair and a tanned complexion. He was said to be wearing a dark t-shirt.
A 37-year-old man from Poole is being held by Dorset Police and being questioned by Hampshire officers on suspicion of common assault.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC David Barnes at Hythe on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
